Submitting an application

To submit an application, go to the "Apply Now" button, and follow these 6 simple steps:

  1. Select the details of the program in which you're interested and the semester/year of your application;
  2. Enter your personal information and contact details;
  3. Add details of your current/most recent school and details of any English tests you have taken (non-native English speakers only);
  4. Enter the details of academic or professional referees;
  5. Upload your supporting documentation (see details on requirements below);
  6. Pay the application fee of $50/鈧50.

That's all there is to it - your first giant step on the road to Rome.

Required documentation

To complete your application, please submit the documentation detailed below.

Please note that, while you may submit an incomplete application as you gather all necessary documents, we recommend waiting to submit your application until you have all the necessary documentation to fast-track your application review.

  • Copy of your valid passport
  • Official school/college transcripts:听A certified English translation is required for non-English transcripts.
  • English test results (for non-native speakers of English)
  • Academic/professional references
  • Two personal essays.

Your personal essays

Please write between 350-500 words on TWO of the three topics below:

1. All roads lead to Rome: What excites you about the possibility of studying at AUR and living in Rome?

2. Pick a historical figure or modern individual you鈥檇 like to converse with for an hour and explain your choice. What would you talk about? What questions would you ask?

3. As the AUR mission states, AUR prepares students to live and work across cultures as skilled鈥痑nd knowledgeable citizens of an interconnected and rapidly changing world. Tell us about an aspect of your personal perspective or lived experience that is important to you and describe how it has shaped the way you would learn from and contribute to AUR鈥檚 international and collaborative community.

Planning your personal essays

When planning your personal essays, please keep in mind that beyond your academic record, we are keen to admit students who can demonstrate:

  • Diversity of personal background and experience
  • Qualities such as leadership, motivation, concern for others and for the community.
  • Non-academic achievements in the performing arts or athletics, employment, or personal experiences.
  • A passion for your intended major.

BA Fine Arts applicants only - Portfolio submission

Potential applicants for the Fine Arts program at 糖心logo入口 should submit a portfolio consisting of between six (6) and fifteen (15) artworks in any media of their choosing.

Below, you will find a link to a template document for submitting your portfolio along with your application. Please ensure, when using this template, that you

  1. Complete the cover page
  2. Copy and paste the personal essays you submitted as part of your application.
  3. Add an image for each page, ensuring that you include the title, medium, size, and year of the work.
  4. Convert the document into a pdf file prior to submission

Candidates are responsible for ensuring that their application is complete and that we have received their supporting documents. Academic Recommendation Letter

The letter of recommendation can be written by a teacher, professor, school principal, or guidance counselor. If you have been out of school for a while and are having difficulty contacting someone for an academic recommendation, a letter from a current or recent employer can be accepted in its place.

Advanced Standing

Candidates in possession of credentials from European lyceums, (Italian Maturit脿, International Baccalaureate, the British A-levels, etc.) or students who receive a 3 or higher on an AP examination must submit official records of the last year of high school and a copy of the diploma (if granted) or official test scores from College Board.

Language Requirements

All students who have not completed their last three years of high school in English must demonstrate proficiency in the English language by submitting the official test scores from TOEFL, IELTS,听Duolingo, or Cambridge English. The minimum accepted test scores are as follows:

SAT and ACT scores are optional and therefore not a requirement for admission to AUR.

Interview

You will be contacted for an interview once a completed application has been submitted and all supporting documents have been received. Interviews may be conducted face-to-face, on the phone, or via Zoom.听
