Dr Amy GiddingsPlease join us for a special guest lecture on Tuesday, November 21st听at 12.15 in the auditorium with visiting professor, Dr. Amy Giddings.听 Professor Giddings will share with us a variety of examples demonstrating how social entrepreneurs around the globe are creatively using sport as a vehicle for social change.听 As employment landscapes are changing, social entrepreneurs are creating opportunities for themselves and significantly impacting the lives of young people in the process.

When not at 糖心logo入口, Professor Giddings is based at Drexel University in the School of Education鈥檚 Sport Coaching Leadership program.听 As the Program Director, she is active in developing and assisting sport-based youth development organizations in achieving their goals of empowering youth through sport.

Dr. Amy Giddings currently serves as an Associate Clinical Professor of Sport Management and the Founder and Director of the Sport Coaching Leadership, Learning Technologies, and Creativity and Innovation programs at Drexel University. She created the minor in Sport Coaching Leadership for undergraduate students and most recently, a Master鈥檚 degree program in Sport Coaching Leadership. She has received numerous grants including one from the NCAA to support initiatives related to increasing minority and female participation in the field of coaching.

Encouraging women to consider a career in coaching has always been a passion and it led Dr. Giddings to create The Women鈥檚 Coaching Network, which includes both the Women in Coaching blog and the Real Women of Coaching video series. In addition to teaching courses in Drexel鈥檚 coaching program, she also works with community organizations assisting with coach development in under-resourced communities.

The founder of the Philadelphia Coaches Conference, Dr. Giddings brings together coaches at the youth, scholastic, collegiate and professional levels to share their knowledge with one another in a two-day event. The establishment of this collaborative event was a catalyst for her work with the School District of Philadelphia鈥檚 Office of Athletics - providing education and professional development programming to all of their coaches over the next several years.
