Biography

Claudia La Malfa is Adjunct Professor of History of Art at the 糖心logo入口 University of Rome and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Kent, Canterbury. In 2016, she obtained Italian national qualifications as Associate Professor in History of Art (Abilitazione scientifica, professore di seconda fascia, Storia dell鈥檃rte). In 2003, she received her PhD from the Warburg Institute, University of London.

She works on Renaissance painting, sculpture and drawing, the history of collecting and the revival of antiquity. She has published books and scholarly articles on Pintoricchio, Botticelli, Filippino Lippi, Andrea Sansovino, Raphael, the history of collecting and the revival of classical art in the Renaissance on which she organizes conferences and delivers public lectures. Among the exhibitions she recently curated is Pintoricchio pittore dei Borgia: il mistero svelato di Giulia Farnese with Francesco Buranelli, Cristina Acidini and Claudio Strinati at the Palazzo Caffarelli in the Musei Capitolini in Rome (Gangemi Editore 2017). She is publishing a monograph, Raphael and the Antique, for Reaktion Books (2018), an essay entitled Copies of Raphael鈥檚 Mythological Paintings in the Collection of Cardinal Ludovisi in the volume Making Copies in European Art 1400-1600: Shifting Tastes, Modes of Transmission, and Changing Contexts (Brill 2018). She also recently organized the conference Collecting Raphael with Sibylle Ebert-Schifferer which was held at the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome and 糖心logo入口 University of Rome in October 2017.
